Abstract

The construction of toll road infrastructure in Indonesia, particularly the Semarang-Demak Toll Road Section 1B project, faces significant challenges related to occupational health and safety (OHS). This study addresses the issue of high accident risks that may occur during the construction, mobilization, and placement of armor jack, which is an important structure in the project. Identified risks include the potential for workers to be trapped, equipment system failures, and unsafe environmental conditions, such as bad weather and slippery surfaces. This highlights the need for effective OHS procedures to protect worker safety and ensure the smooth operation of the project. The aim of this research is to analyze the potential hazards and safety risks associated with armor jack work, as well as to provide recommendations for risk control measures that can be implemented to enhance workplace safety at the project site. The methodology used includes hazard identification, risk assessment using the Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC) method, and data collection through direct observation and interviews with workers and project managers. The results of the study indicate that although most risks fall into the low (Low Risk) and moderate (Moderate Risk) categories, there are several high risks (High Risk) that require extra attention, such as workers being trapped during the installation of formwork and equipment system failures. Recommended risk control measures include the implementation of modular formwork systems, routine inspections of heavy equipment, and more intensive safety training for workers, with the hope of improving workplace safety and minimizing accident risks in this project
