Design of an Android-Based Public Transportation Information System for The City Of Malang

Population growth and community mobility in Malang City have led to an increased need for a public transportation information system that is easily accessible and informative. Currently, the use of public transportation in Malang City, such as minibuses, still faces challenges in the form of limited information on routes, types of services, and estimated costs available digitally. This study aims to design an Android-based public transportation information system application named SIGMA (Malang City Public Transportation Information System). The methodology used is qualitative descriptive, with data collection through field observations at six major transportation hubs, secondary data collection from the Malang City Transportation Department, and literature review. The system design uses UML modelling and the waterfall development method, which includes the stages of needs analysis and system design. The research results consist of an application design featuring route search, fare information, minibus characteristics, and route maps. With this application, it is hoped that user comfort and convenience in utilizing public transportation will be enhanced, and the use of public transportation in Malang City will be encouraged more efficientlyReferences
