Abstract

Electric bicycles are becoming an increasingly popular mode of transportation due to their practicality and environmental friendliness. The increasing use of electric bicycles is accompanied by the risk of traffic accidents that cannot be ignored. Analysis of factors that influence accidents and evaluating the level of risk for electric bicycle users is the main objective. Descriptive analysis method with a qualitative approach is used based on accident data involving electric bicycles. The factors analyzed include road conditions, driver behavior, and awareness of traffic safety. Road conditions with uneven surfaces (63%) and lack of lighting (60%) are possible risks of accidents due to poor road infrastructure. The behavior of not wearing a helmet (65%) and not obeying traffic rules (58%) are major risks of accidents. The main causes of accidents are driver error (50%), road conditions (30%), and vehicle technicalities (25%). Awareness of the importance of using personal protective equipment such as helmets by drivers is still relatively low. The risk of accidents can be minimized by increasing awareness of driving safety, tightening the use of electric bicycles, improving road infrastructure, and encouraging users to maintain their vehicles regularly. Infrastructure improvements and safety campaigns are needed to reduce the risk of accidents involving electric bicycles in the future.
