Abstract

The digital transformation in the public transportation sector presents opportunities to deliver services that are safer, more comfortable, and inclusive, particularly for women and vulnerable groups. One of the recurring issues in railway services is sexual harassment, which has not been effectively addressed by conventional ticket booking systems. This research aims to design QuickRail, a gender-based digital solution that allows users to select seats and seatmates based on gender preferences. The study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method through literature studies, contextual observations, needs analysis, and system modeling using Unified Modeling Language (UML). In addition, a user evaluation of the application prototype was carried out through a survey involving 30 respondents. The results show that QuickRail received highly positive responses, with the highest scores in login convenience (4.93), comfort with the gender-based seatmate selection feature (4.70), and the application's effectiveness in enhancing safety and preventing sexual harassment (4.67). These findings indicate that the application's key feature successfully addresses a real social issue. QuickRail not only fulfills the functional aspects of service digitalization but also establishes a new standard in public transportation that is fair, secure, and gender-responsive.
